Big news: presentation new marina Torrevieja
The new 'port project' was presented with great pride yesterday. A project that will completely change the city of Torrevieja. The Torrevieja port project, with a budget of more than 19 million euros, will revitalize the fishing area and connect the city to its port.
The Municipal Theater yesterday organized the presentation of the project for the new area and leisure center 'Puerto de Torrevieja', in which the Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, took part; the president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Ximo Puig; the Minister of Territorial Policy, Public Works and Mobility, Arcadi Spain; the general manager of ports, airports and coasts, Mª Luisa Martínez, and the president of the company Empresas del Sol, Enrique Riquelme.
The project has an overall implementation budget of more than 19 million euros, of which 10.5 million comes from private investment, while the rest, more than 8 million, comes from the Torrevieja City Council.
A project that will transform the port area into a new public, commercial and leisure space that will connect the city to the port via an elevated promenade that will provide exceptional views for the population, visitors and tourists to enjoy the maritime landscape that the city has to offer .
The construction will be carried out on a large strip of land belonging to the ports of the Generalitat Valenciana and aims to put an end to the barrier currently created between the city and the sea, the use of which has been reduced to a transit area and parking of vehicles in front of the adjacent facilities located on the pier.
The works will be carried out by the company Empresas del Sol and will redevelop a space of 40,800 m2, creating an economic engine of great importance not only locally, but also regionally, provincially and regionally. With an occupancy area of almost 18,000 square meters, the new leisure center will consist of six buildings with two floors, one each, and a ground floor for an underground car park for a total of 600 vehicles. The buildings have vantage points and small public meeting areas, with a translucent ground floor, equipped with some small commercial and restaurant buildings, freeing up the public space for the population to walk and enjoy.
Access is planned via two large ramps starting, one from the eastern part of the port, generating a series of elevated footpaths adjacent to the pre-existing Paseo del Dique de Levante and another from the western part of the port, near Paseo Vistalegre.
The main uses of the recreation area, located on the first floor, are: cinema, bowling and recreation. Activities aimed at all types of people for group fun, with friends or family.
The Mayor of Torrevieja emphasized in his speech that thanks to the joint work of two public authorities - Generalitat Valenciana and the Municipal Council of Torrevieja - they have been able to specify the needs for renovation of the port space and to join forces in favor of a common interest.
Eduardo Dolón indicated that the Torrevieja City Council will also play an active role in the redevelopment of the port area. For example, with an initially planned investment of more than 8 million euros, the rest of the port area is being redeveloped, from the facade of the current existing buildings to the new road that will run through the center of the port and replace the existing ones. This creates a continuous esplanade, without traffic in the middle, of 49,000 m2 for public space and living pleasure.
This space is characterized by a multifunctional pedestrian area, which allows the traditional fairground to be perfectly integrated into the planned space. With a renewed look, with respect for the existing trees on the Paseo de la Libertad, and even extension of these green areas. New cycle paths will also be created.
Also, this esplanade will make it possible to organize other traditional events, such as our annual "feria de mayo" or the "Seville Fiestas" -recognized as being of regional tourist interest-, or any other event such as open-air concerts, exhibition fairs, etc.
In addition, the existing road on Avenida de la Libertad is disappearing, turning all that space into a pedestrian platform -with the effect of creating space for service and emergency vehicles-, where the market stalls (popularly known as "the hippies"), with a totally renewed and modern image.
At UNIQ Estates we are honored to announce this fantastic news! Like our office, which is located in Torrevieja, several of our projects are located in Torrevieja or in the vicinity of the city. Think areas such as Punta Prima, Los Balcones, Orihuela Costa, Guardamar del Segura, etc. We therefore expect a future value increase of real estate located in these areas.
